During our stay in New Zealand, we had the chance to meet several rainbow families.
New Zealand is a gay friendly country and Rainbow families have the same rights as any family.
Like France, New Zealand adopted marriage equality in 2013. But well before France (since 2004), children of lesbian couples (married or not) legally have two moms since their two names are on the birth certificate.
Amy and Rochelle live in Upper Hutt, a town north of Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. They welcomed us into their home to share a tea and discuss about our family lives.
Amy and Rochelle have two children: Joshua, 4, and Alexander, who had just celebrated his 1 year old birthday the day before our visit.
They have a Facebook page called Two mummies and two precious babies to share their family life as a two moms family and you won’t be surprised that 99% of their daily life looks like the life of any family 🙂
They have accepted without hesitation to be interviewed to contribute to our Love Makes family -World tour project which aims to give visibility to Rainbow families.
